Arts Counselling & Therapy
FOREST ROW • EAST GRINSTEAD • CROWBOROUGH • UCKFIELD • HAYWARDS HEATH • LINGFIELD
Arts counselling is a form of therapy that helps us express and explore ourselves through creative activities. Guided use of art media works holistically, to support emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing. Arts counselling encourages reflection and self-discovery by providing creative ways to consider challenges and feelings in a safe, supportive environment.
The Forest
There is no substitute,
for feeling what calls to be felt,
no shortcut through the forest.
Each tree an experience,
each interaction, its own fall of light,
the ground itself littered with things
that ask to be known by name.
It’s not just loss
that hides in the undergrowth, but joy
and suppressed and dampened hopes.
The forest is alive with all that you are.
Hush now, listen.

How Arts Counselling Can Help
I understand how hard it can be to put difficult feelings into words. Arts Counselling helps by blending traditional talking therapy with creative processes, providing new ways of self-expression. We can talk as much as you like, for some or all of the session. However, if you prefer, we don’t have to talk at all; Arts Counselling offers a safe way to explore emotions, thoughts, and feelings without the need for words. Creative expression brings the conscious, unconscious and subconscious into visual or tangible forms.
Looking at our issues on paper or in 3-D form provides some distance; it takes any difficulty out of ourselves and places it in front of us, giving space to look at it clearly. Emerging themes and imagery can be explored or transformed through further art activities and/or conversation.
Let me guide you through the forest to feel what needs to be felt. Loss, joy, hopes or fears; I will listen with full attention to whatever you share through words, imagery or form. I am not here to fix or give advice, but to walk beside you. Together, we will search the undergrowth to find whatever is needed to bring healing and wellness; perhaps solutions, acceptance or a new path forward.
