Art for Wellbeing in Forest Row

“A dedicated space to relax, be creative, reflect and support your emotional wellbeing through art-making”

Would you like dedicated time and space to relax and focus on art making? You might feel low in mood and want someone to confide in, or perhaps all is well, but you recognise that relaxation is important for continued well-being. Art for Wellbeing is like a gym membership but for emotional rather than physical wellness – a place to top up your mental health.

A space for relaxation and renewal

Art making can be a calming act in and of itself. Applying paint to paper with long, steady brushstrokes can help us slow down, breathe deeply, and relax. It helps us come into the present moment, focusing on the here and now.  Creativity improves overall health and wellbeing by slowing the heart rate down and enabling a state of flow.

We might work on specific themes and art projects together, such as botanical drawings, self-portraits or landscape painting. While art lessons focus on the final product, arts counselling brings an additional layer of self-reflection. In a therapeutic setting, creativity enables the expression of thoughts and emotions, including those that are difficult to put into words.

Creative projects with space for reflection

You could also choose to use Sandplay to explore your life in a different way. Whether in sand or on paper, allowing imagery to arise offers insights into our inner world, revealing connections between past experiences, present emotions, and felt responses. As new realisations come to the fore, thoughts and feelings can be processed together within a safe, supportive space. This is a dedicated time for you to relax and focus on yourself.
