Children’s Arts Counselling in Forest Row

“A safe, supportive space for children to express feelings through creative work & play”

Is your child struggling emotionally? Do they seem overly anxious, shut down or perhaps have some behaviour difficulties?

Your child might have friendship issues or be affected by their environmental or family circumstances, such as a bereavement, changing schools, a pet dying, moving house, parental separation or divorce. These can all be unsettling events for children, and they may need extra support to feel safe and understood at this time. Tweens, or pre-teens on the cusp of entering teenage years, may be entering puberty and oscillate between wanting independence and needing comfort. For this age group, the section Teens and Young People may also be helpful.

How I can help your child

I can help by providing a regular, safe place for your child to express their feelings. As a counsellor, I am not their parent or teacher, but a trusted person who will be there each week to provide support and space just for them. My extensive experience teaching in schools, combined with my counselling training, has equipped me to understand and respond to children empathetically.

A regular, safe space to express feelings

Some children, especially young ones, can find it difficult, or even impossible, to put into words why they feel the way they do. Arts counselling and Sandplay therapy are most effective here, as they don’t require clients to explain, understand, or articulate their thoughts and feelings. They instead express and process feelings through play and creative activities. I am there to guide this process and give them my full attention.
