Arts Counselling for Older Adults in Forest Row

“Creative, supportive counselling for older adults seeking connection, reflection, emotional support and wellbeing in later life”

Are you an elder of our community or entering this phase of life? Or perhaps you’re a relative of an older adult who you feel would benefit from arts counselling?

You may be ageing well and enjoying your golden years with more time for leisure, freedom, and a more enjoyable life, but want to prioritise your wellbeing in a creative way; if so, please also see the Art for Wellbeing section. However, you might be struggling with the challenges of becoming older – perhaps your children live far away, or you no longer work and have become isolated from a community you once felt a part of. There may be health related difficulties associated with older age that frustrate you. Or perhaps you would like to review your life with someone to put it all into perspective. I can help by providing a place to explore any issues or difficulties you may be experiencing.

Arts counselling for older adults of all capabilities

My experience of working with older adults has shown me the power of art to enliven us at any age. I am experienced with older adults of all capabilities, including those living with age-related conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. I’ve run wellbeing groups at community settings and care homes. I’ve also enjoyed individual arts counselling with older clients. This was particularly important during the Covid-19 pandemic, when I provided much needed emotional support to those in isolation.

Creativity, connection and emotional wellbeing

For all of us, regardless of our capabilities, I recognise the importance of connection with others for social and emotional wellbeing. Having the opportunity to be creative with art activities or Sandplay can enliven us at any age and provide new ways of observing and interacting with the world. Arts counselling can give you the time and space to find new ways to explore thoughts and feelings through creativity.
